The French Elite League club Templiers Senart has signed catcher Jamal Boutagra for the upcoming season. The 35-year-old worked as a hitting coach at the French Baseball Academy in Toulouse last year. In seven games for Stade Toulousain he collected two hits in 13 at-bats. One year earlier he batted .369 (OBP .500/SLG .538) before face fractures after getting hit by a pitch ended his year abruptly.
Senart also has signed the French Junior National Team player Arthur Paturel. The 17-year-old outfielder/first baseman, who also can pitch, is joining the club together with his brother Charles and father Jean-Luc. All three played for the Nationale 1 team Bois-Guillaume Woodchucks last season. Arthur Paturel batted .293 (OBP .406/SLG .345) in 20 games. On the mound he had an ERA of 2.00 in 21 innings (10 SO, 7 BB). Charles Paturel had a .204 batting average (OBP .375/SLG .204) in 20 games, while Jean-Luc Paturel went hitless in eight at-bats through four games.
While the Templiers announced these four acquisitions on their website, Bafinfos.com reports that another Woodchucks player will go to Senart in 2011 2010. Luis Aponte apparently is going to play another season in Nationale 1, before making the jump to the Elite League was rumored to join the team after having played another season for Bois-Guillaume in 2009. He batted .333 (OBP .422/SLG .436) with eight doubles, 22 runs scored and 19 RBI in 22 games.
Concerning L. Aponte, there’s a mistake on the years.
On Bafinfos, it should have been written “N1 in 2009 and Elite in 2010”.
However, the deal’s not done. Administrative issues?
Thanks for the remark.
