Italy’s Serie A to Start 2023 Season on April 15

Posted on January 6, 2023 by MrBB

Opening Day in Italy’s Serie A has been set for April 15, the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) announced yesterday, with the domestic season concluding no later than September 15.

The first phase of the 2023 Serie A season, which will conclude on May 13, will consist of a 10-game group stage, with six teams competing in five groups for the right to advance to the championship stage of the season.

Group A: San Marino, Macerata, Poviglio, Athletics Bologna, Longbridge Bologna, Padule Sesto Fiorentino.
Group B: Parma, Rovigo, Collecchio, NBP Ronchi dei Legionari, Cervignano, Reggio Emilia.
Group C: Fortitudo Bologna, Godo, Verona, Padua, Oltretorrente, Codogno.
Group D: BBC Grosseto, Nettuno 1945, Bsc Grosseto, Crocetta, Sala Baganza, Nettuno 2.
Group E: Cagliari, Modena, Turin, Senago, Brescia, Settimo.

The top two teams from the five groups — 10 in total — will advance to the championship stage, which will see the teams playing home-and-away, three-game series in two groups.

The top four clubs from each of the groups will advance to the playoffs, which are scheduled to begin in mid-August.
