Press Release Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) regarding 2011 Baseball World Cup
The Board of Directors of the Italian Baseball Federation expressed doubts about the opportunity of playing an edition of the IBAF World Cup in 2011.
The tournament was not considered to be part of the international schedule for the upcoming season and a location and a date are not set yet, as late as the third decade of January. This may force some of the countries to withdraw and it is very unlikely that professional organizations will allow their players to participate.
A World Cup of this sort would not be supporting the project of the baseball community, since the reinstatement of the game in the Olympic program is seen as a priority.
