The Italian team, who lost the first three preparation games in Taiwan against the Netherlands (2-4), Australia (3-4) and Chinese Taipei (0-6), got their first win on Saturday. The defeated the Spanish squad 7-4.

Jose CRUZ MONTERO had tied the game with a RBI-single in the third frame. They could have scored more, but they left the bases loaded. Their opponent made it better. Italy added four runs in the fifth period to decide the outcome of the meeting. Gino LOLLIO led off with a solo-homerun. After that, they build up the score to 6-2, through a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly and an error. Both teams scored more runs, but it changed nothing on the outcome.

Matteo D’ANGELO started for Italy. He allowed two hits and two walks in two innings. Roberto CORRADINI, Luca PANERATI, Lorenzo AVAGININA and Alessandro MAESTRI (touched 94 MPH) relieved him.

Miguel A. RIZO MONCADA began for the Spanish team. He gave up three hits, one walk and two runs in two innings. Remigio LEAL GONZALEZ, Fernando GUTIERREZ, Pol LLOPIS BLAZQUEZ, Edgar AINETO GARCIA, Jorge BALBOA MIGUEL, Ivan GRANDADOS also appeared in the game.
