Italy over Czech Republic with 7-2

The Italians salvaged a 7-2 victory over the Czech Republic on Thursday at the European Championships in Barcelona.

Matteo D’ ANGELO threw 5.2 innings and gave up only two runs on five hits to get the win. Fabio MILANO and Carlos PEZZULO registered the final 10 outs to help Italy claim the fourth victory in six contests.

Davide DALLOSPEDALE scored twice and was 4-for-4 while teammates Jack SANTORA, Max DE BIASE, and Giuseppe MAZZANTI collected two hits apiece.

Czech starter Martin SCHNEIDER suffered the loss giving up four runs on seven hits in only two innings. The Italians also roughed up Radek PROCHAZKA for seven hits in four innings of work.

Jakub HAJTMAR and Martin VESELY both had one hit for the Czech Republic.
