Danesi Nettuno won game one of the Italian Baseball Series on Friday evening against T&A San Marino. They prevailed 12-11 after 12 innings in front of 1,500 people at Serravalle. RBI singles by Giuseppe Mazzanti and Juan Camilo drove in the winning runs in the top of the third extra inning. The Titans only were able to answer with a RBI double by Wuilliuans Vasquez. Laidel Chapelli and Lorenzo Avagnina grounded out to the end the game.
Nettuno trailed by as much as seven runs in the game. They tied the contest for a first time with a six-run sixth, but T&A took regained the lead in the bottom of the frame. However Danesi countered as fast with another run in the seventh. With the score tied at 10-10 the game went into extra innings.
Ennio Retrosi highlighted the big rally with a bases clearing triple. Olmo Rosario homered and drove in four for Nettuno. Renato Imperiali went 4-for-6. Jairo Ramos reached five times for San Marino. Vasquez collected four hits. On the mound Kris Wilson (NET) allowed five hits, seven runs (5 ER) and a walk in 2 1/3 innings. Tiago Da Silva (SMA) issued five hits, three runs and two bb in five innings. Fernando Gutierrez (W) ended up with the win. Henry Bonilla (L) took the loss.
