The 2007 Italian champion Montepaschi Grosseto is looking to add some depth to their roster, according to baseball.it. They want to sign infielder Anthony CARACCIOLO and pitcher Buddy BENGEL. They also announced that Kevin HALE and Michael COLUCCI are lent to Piacenza and Marina di Ravenna. At these teams, both will get more playing time as in Grosseto.
CARACCIOLO (born in 1979) played for the relegated team of Avigliana in 2007. He hit .184 with 16 runs scored and ten RBI. He also was successful in nine of eleven stolen base attempts. He will strengthen the bench and is going to be used as a utility man. He can play every infield position.
BENGEL (born in 1982) is a former pitcher of the Quinnipiac College, Connecticut. The last four years he played in independent leagues in the United States. He appeared in 54 games (21 starts), posting an 8-13 record with an ERA of 5.23.
