The Spanish national team continues its success at the Italian Baseball Week. They improved to 2-0 with a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in Nettuno. Franklin Tavarez and Jose Luis Riera had a pair of RBI singles in the first for an early lead. Riera would also score the third run in the fourth, crossing the plate on a double play ground ball by Nestor Perez. Kelvin Feliz brought the fourth run on the board with a RBI single in the eighth. On the mound Jorge Balboa issued just three hits and two walks in seven scoreless innings for the win. Ivan Granados and Remigio Leal closed it out.

Italy scored four runs in the seventh inning to break a tie in a 6-2 win over the Czech Republic in the evening game. It was their first win in the tournament for the reigning European Champion. They scored all four runs without the help of any hits or errors, taking advantage of a struggling Jan Rehacek. The first three crossed the plate on consecutive bases loaded walks by Joe Persichina, Jack Santora and Marco Sabbatani. The fourth followed when the fourth ball to Sabbatani went away for a wild pitch. Thiago Da Silva struck out seven in five innings, allowing one run on four hits. Matteo D’Angelo got the win in relief. Jan Blazek had given up just two runs on five hits and three walks in six innings of work. Marek Minarik and Boris Bokaj also took the mound for the Czech team. Justin Cicatello and Marco Grifantini closed it out for the Azzurri.
