The Czech Republic handed Spain the first loss at the Italian Baseball Week in Nettuno. They celebrated a 4-1 win, scoring three runs combined in the seventh and eighth to seal the deal. Marek Cervenka went the distance, allowing one run on eight hits and a walk, striking out three. 65 of his 102 pitches were strikes. Jan Drabek had two hits and a RBI for the Czech. Juan Manuel Salazar scored the lone run for Spain in the eighth inning. Lowuin Sacramento, Sammy De los Santos, Oscar Jimenez, Pedro Pablo Belmonte and Manuel Olivera took the mound for the team of manager Mauro Mazzotti.

The second game on Sunday between Italy and Chinese Taipei got rained out.
