Italian Baseball League: T&A San Marino joins Rimini in Finals

Posted on September 8, 2013 by philipp

Defending title holder T&A San Marino is joining Rimini in the Italian Series, a rematch of last year’s championship series in the Italian Baseball League. On Saturday San Marino scored two runs in the top of the tenth in a 4-2 victory over Unipol Bologna, winning the series 3-1. Mattia Reginato homered with one out in the tenth. An error led to the second run.

Bologna had tied the game with one out in the bottom of the ninth, as Marco Sabbatani came through with a RBI single. However with runners on the corners and one out, Francesco Fuzzi grounded into a double play, sending the match into extra innings. Tiago Da Silva earned the win, allowing two runs (1 ER) on nine hits and a walk in nine innings. Mattia Barbaresi got charged with the loss. Rimini had completed a sweep over Nettuno in the second semi-final on Friday.
