In the Italian Baseball Series T&A San Marino avoided a sweep with a 4-2 victory over Rimini on Friday evening. Four runs in the top of the sixth, three through a home run by Jairo Ramos, decided the outcome. San Marino cut the deficit to 1-2 in the best-of-five series. Game four follows on Saturday evening. Alexander Romero homered and drove in both runs for the Pirates.
Jim Magrane picked up the win, conceding only one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings. Chris Cooper bailed out Darwin Cubilan, who ran into trouble in the eighth. Yorman Bazardo allowed three hits, two runs and four bb in five-plus innings. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez couldn’t do his usual magic, serving up Ramos’ crucial home run.
