The Italian Baseball League semi-finals continued with game three of the best-of-five series on Tuesday evening.
T&A San Marino completed a three-game sweep over Angel Service Nettuno to reach the Italian Series. They won at Steno Borghese by a score of 8-4. San Marino built a 5-0 lead through the middle of the fifth. Nettuno then scored four runs in the bottom half of the fifth, but San Marino added three more in the seventh to secure the win. Mattia Reginato continued his strong series with a solo home run and three runs scored. Simone Albanese and Renato Imperiali had two RBI apiece. Giuseppe Mazzanti went deep for Nettuno. Fernando Nieve struck out seven in 4 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win. Cesar Jimenez got charged with the loss.
Meanwhile Unipol Bologna remained alive in their series against ASD Rimini. After losing the first two games of the best-of-five set at home, Fortitudo won 4-2 in Rimini on Tuesday to reduce the deficit to 1-2. Game four will be played on Wednesday. Bologna broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the top of the eighth. Alex Sambucci with a solo home run provided for the winning run. He scored two runs overall. Raul Rivero retired all nine batters he faced to earn the win in relief of a solid Jared Lansford. Jose Rosario took the loss for Rimini.
