ASD Rimini won the decisive game five of their semi-final series against Unipol Bologna on Saturday evening to join T&A San Marino in the Italian Series. Rimini defeated Fortitudo 5-4 at Gianni Falchi stadium in Bologna to decide the thrilling best-of-five series 3-2. Rimini had won games one and two in Bologna, but Unipol fought back and tied the series with two wins in Rimini.
But in the fifth matchup Rimini started with three runs in the first as Nicola Garbella drove in two with a triple and later scored on a sac fly by Federico Celli. Bologna needed until the fourth to get on the board, when Osman Marval connected for a solo home run. Paolino Ambrosino got them within a run with a RBI single in the sixth. However the Pirates added two runs in the eighth to get their three-run lead back thanks to a RBI single by Garbella and a run scored after a passed ball. Fortitudo tried to rally as Jose Flores went deep in the bottom of the eighth and Alessandro Vaglio drove in a run with a sac fly in the ninth. But Marval struck out with runners on first and second to end the game.
