Italian Baseball League: Parma, Bologna, Padua on verge of Sweeps

Posted on July 16, 2016 by philipp

The Italian Baseball League continued on Friday with three games, but the same three winners from Thursday. Parma scored three runs apiece in the third and the fifth of a 6-3 win over Rimini. Mario Martinez put them ahead with a three-run home run in the third. Lorenzo Gradali kept the second rally with a two-run triple. Jose Flores drove in two for Rimini.

Meanwhile Unipol Bologna celebrated a 3-0 shutout over Nettuno. Ryan Searle pitched six scoreless no-hit innings to start the game. The Australian struck out eight and walked one. Raul Rivero lost the no-no bid in the seventh, but still completed the two-hit shutout. Paolino Ambrosino went 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI.

Tommasin Padua beat Novara 9-3 in the third matchup of the night. Raul Ruiz struck out seven in six innings for the win. Four players, Luis Alvarez, Raffaele Medoro, Daniele Malengo and Luca Martone drove in two runs each.
