Last Tuesday the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) celebrated the season end at the “Gala dei Diamanti” in Parma. Besides the All Stars in the Italian Baseball League, awards were also handed out for the Italian Softball League and the best defensive players in each league. Additionally the 2009 inductees into the Italian Hall of Fame were announced. New members on the players section are Roberto Bianchi and Nadia Barolo. Bianchi, a former catcher who played in a total of 949 IBL games, is the all-time leader with 288 homeruns in Italy. Barolo won eight Italian Softball championships with Bollate. Also inducted into the Hall of Fame 2009 are coach Franco Ludovisi, Umpire Sante De Francheschi, scorer Osvaldo Faraone, writer Silvio Ottolenghi and executive Mario Bretto.
