The Serbian ISG clinic, held this past weekend, was attended by coaches and representatives from 3 countries, host Serbia, Hungary and Bulgaria. Overall attendance was the best in the several years that the clinic has been held. On Saturday ISG Team Leader Bill Percy and clinicians Don Freeman, new coach of the Mainz Athletics in the German Bundesleague, and Rick Johnston of Baseball Canada conducted a hands on session with youth, Cadet and Junior players.
The setting for the main part of the clinic was a lecture hall setup with ascending seating making visibility for the coaches in attendance optimal for viewing computer presentations. The talks covered a wide range of topics with Freeman covering primarily pitching, Johnston offense and Percy, a familiar face to partisans having served the region frequently as an MLB envoy coach, focusing on defense and mental approaches to hitting. Other topics were also covered in the three day affair including a session featuring CEB Secretary General, Kruno Karin on international issues and practice organization.
