International Sports Group, Caliendo Sports International in conjunction with the US Consulate in Vladivostok, Russia hosted a Coaches/Player camp from June 11-20, 2018. Former USA Baseball National Team Coach, President Caliendo Sports and VP of the International Sports Group was in Russia for 10 days to operate with a coaches/player camp. The camp consisted of daily practices from 9 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm where coach Caliendo ran a special instructional camp for players and his assistants were the Russian coaches from the Vladivostok Baseball Association. All the basic fundamentals were covered along with organizing a practice under pressure, dealing with the failures of the game, fun competitive drills and so much more. Coach Caliendo spent the time off to visit with the coaches to discuss the development of the game. The ten days included opening ceremonies with Darren Thies, Public Affairs Officer U.S. Consulate General Vladivostok, Russia, closing ceremonies with the Counsel General Michael Keays, interviews at the radio station, newspaper interviews, visiting with local baseball officials, a 4 team tournament and camp for all the teams and coaches and finally lunch with the Counsel General of the US Consulate.
Special thanks to Vladimir Saranchuk President of the Vladivostok Baseball Club and VP of the Russian Baseball Federation for his professional organization of the camp. Also, special thanks for the co-operation of the International Sports Group, Pony Baseball/Softball, USA Baseball, Caliendo Sports International, Vladivostok Baseball Club, Russian Baseball Federation and the US Consulate in Vladivostok, Russia.
“This was a very special program which brought together many organizations on a good will program through the sport of baseball. The Russian Baseball Club treated me first class, the kids were great to work with and the leadership of the US Consulate headed up by the General Counsel Michael Keays made the program a big success. Russia is another country in Eastern Europe which has a lot of potential in producing players for college baseball and professional baseball in the near future. These players have a love for the game and show the physical and mental skills to be able to play the game at a high level. The International Sports Group will be hosting a future coaches development program in Russia and we are excited about this future working relationship with the Russian Baseball Federation.” Peter M.
