Last weekend was originally a day off in the schedule. But on the first sunny weekend of June two doubleheaders were played as there were a handful of games cancelled on earlier dates due to rain and other reasons.
After devastating losses to Sleepwalkers last week Óbuda Brick Factory needed to step up to keep playoff hopes alive. Brick Factory hosted Slovan Spiders and needed a sweep, but came up short. Óbuda won game one, Zalabai went 3/6 with 1 run scored and Andó was 2/4 scored 2 and batted in. Spiders took the lead and Brick Factory ace Zalabai was pulled after 3 innings due to neck injury, so the table was set for Spiders. But two big offensive innings in the fifth and eighth by Óbuda gave the hosts the win, final score 12-5.
In game two Jorge Fernandez started for Óbuda and his performance gave the opportunity for his team to get the second win that day. Fernandez pitched 6 innings giving up 2 runs 0 earned on 3 hits. He also gave up 2 base on balls and hit three batters. Spiders lefty Pavol Teslik outpitched him completing a 4 hit shutout in the seven inning game.
Now Óbuda has two more games to play. If they sweep the doubleheader against Fighting Flies this weekend they will have a a chance to make the playoff but that really depends on what will be the results in remaining games of the current top 4 teams.
In Trnava the Angles hosted the Fighting Flies. Angels won game one and the guests forfeited the second game after their second baseman got hurt and they run out of bench players.
