It was already widely assumed that the Division 2 of the Italian Baseball League will see a format change in 2013. GrandeSlam.net now reports that the plan is to fusion the IBL2 with the Serie A of the Federal Championship. Three pools will be formed mixed with IBL2 and Serie A teams. Teams in pool C will receive refunds for their travel expenses due to longer distances. Additionally the new IBL teams Ronchi dei Legionari and Mastiff Arezzo won’t have IBL2 teams. However after the regular season is concluded, Serie A and IBL2 will play their own playoffs separately. There won’t be any relegation after the 2013 season, as clubs will get time to adjust to the new format.
