Posted on February 19, 2009February 19, 2009 by philipp

The promoted club in the French Elite League COUGARS MONTIGNY acquired second baseman Jason Holowaty. He is 35 years old and a former NCAA Division I player for the Brown University. He is coming from the British Baseball champion LONDON METS. He was five years in the National Baseball League in Great Britain, winning the national title three times with the METS and the BRACKNELL BLAZERS. He batted .420 (OBP .490/SLG .538) during his time in the NBL according to the Great Britain Scorers Association website. Last season he was honored as best fielder at his position.

Holowaty also played in Australia in the past and is a vice president of the European Baseball Coaches Association (EBCA). In 2008 he was an assistant coach at the Trinity College (Div. III). Additionally he is the manager of game development for Major League Baseball International in Europe. He hopes to play for Team Great Britain in the Baseball World Cup next September. Holowaty is the third new player for MONTIGNY after Jean-Baptiste Couton (from Rouen) and Nicolas Launay (Savigny).
