The GAUTING INDIANS have acquired two players shortly before the season starts on Sunday. They are welcome utility man Matt Fuller and shortstop Seth Binder. However due to the late signing both will miss the opening doubleheader against vice champion BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE REGENSBURG
Fuller is 24 years old and from Rochester, New York. He went to the Niagara University (NCAA Division I) in 2003 and 2004, before going to St. John Fisher College in Rochester. During his first two years at Niagara he was a pitcher, appearing in 34 games as a reliever with an ERA higher than 7.50. At St. John Fisher he was used as a utility player and a pitcher. He batted .337 (OBP .387/ SLG .480) in 2005 and .405 (.439/.579) a year later, receiving All-American honors. In 2006 Fuller had a 9-2 record with an ERA of 2.74 with 74 strikeouts (17 walks) in 65.2 innings pitched.
Binder is 22 years old and resides in Oak Park, California. He played for the PETACH TIKVA PIONEERS of the Israel Baseball League in 2007. The right-handed batter hit .250 (.479/.250) with 23 runs scored and six RBI. According to his stats he is a typical leadoff hitter with a high on-base-percentage and no power. He got not one extra-base-hit in all of last year, spanning 34 games. But he has some speed, stealing eleven bases in 13 tries. Before his time in Israel he went to the Oberlin College (NCAA Division III) from 2004 to 2007. Binder batted during his college career .337 (SLG .427) with 102 runs scored, 58 RBI and 41 stolen bases in 128 games.
