Recap on Baseball.ca
Japan picked up win number three with a 1-0 shutout against Canada. Atsunori Inaba’s solo homerun in the fifth was all they needed to beat the maple leafs. The North Americans dropped to 1-4 after another close game. However their offense was non-existent on Monday with Emmanuel Garcia and Mike Saunders accounting for the only hits.
Yoshihisa Naruse (W 1-0) gave up just two hits in seven brilliant innings. He struck out ten. Kyuji Fujikawa and Koji Uehara (S 1) completed the two-hitter with two perfect innings in relief. Chris Begg (L 1-1) gave up one run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
