The veteran southpaw struck out eight in 7 1/3 innings of scoreless two-hit, one-walk relief. Filippo Crociati and Jack Santora drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with RBI singles in the sixth. Ivan Cechet had two RBI for Ronchi.

In the second game Roberto Corradini and Sandy Patrone combined to throw nine scoreless two-hit innings in an 8-0 shutout. Corradini struck out nine for the win. Jack Santora, who already had three hits in game one, went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Giuseppe Spinelli scored four times. Alessandro Petralia got charged with the loss, issuing seven hits, three runs and six walks in 4 2/3 frames.
