Posted on August 1, 2014 by philipp

The two contenders for the second spot in the Italian Baseball Series finals besides Unipol Bologna celebrated shutouts on Thursday evening. T&A San Marino remains one game behind Rimini. San Marino beat ASD Parma 5-0. Jairo Ramos put the Titans ahead 2-0 with a pair of RBI singles in the first and the sixth. Doubles by Giovanni Pantaleoni and Wuillians Vasquez in the top of the ninth provided some insurance. Junior Guerra and Darwin Cubilan combined in the five-hitter. Jesus Yepez took the loss.

Rimini meanwhile earned a 1-0 win over Bologna in the second game on Thursday. Oscar Salazar drove in Leonardo Zileri with a single in the first. Enrique Gonzales and Jose Escalona issued just one hit and three walks through nine scoreless innings. Claudio Liverziani accounted for the lone Fortitudo hit with a two-out single in the sixth. Joey Williamson took the tough loss after five solid innings.
