T&A San Marino had a perfect start into the semi-final round of the Italian Baseball League, as they swept their three-game series against Telemarket Rimini thanks to a 5-4 win on Saturday evening. They overcame an early 0-3 deficit and broke a 4-4 tie on a RBI single by Francesco Imperiali in the fifth, aided by two Pirates errors. Carlos Duran hit a two-run homerun. Jack Santora went 3-for-5 for Rimini. On the mound Tiago Da Silva (W) issued nine hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk in 7 1/3 innings for the win. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (L) allowed eight hits, five runs (4 ER) and three bb in 6 1/3 innings.

A three-run third put UGF Bologna ahead for good in a 6-3 win over Cariparma in the rubber match of their series on Saturday. Jairo Ramos Gizzi and Stefano Landuzzi combined for four RBI. Ramos and Juan Carlos Infante scored twice. Orlando Munoz hit a two-run homerun für Parma. Fabio Betto (W) conceded eight hits, three runs and three bb in 6 1/3 innings. Mihai Burlea (L) issued five hits, four runs and three walks in two-plus innings to take the loss.
