IBL Semis: Parma, Bologna prevail on Friday as Liverziani hits 100th HR

Posted on July 19, 2014 by philipp

The semi-final round robin continued on Friday evening with two games. Unipol Bologna won a back-and-forth affair 8-7 over T&A San Marino, solidifying first place in the standings. Claudio Liverziani went 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBI. His long ball in the first was his 100th in the Italian Baseball League. He also scored in the eighth, when a fielder’s choice by Alessandro Vaglio led to two runs, which turned a one-run deficit into a win for Fortitudo. Wuillians Vasquez went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI for San Marino.

In the second game Parma defeated Rimini 5-1. It was another masterpiece for Jesus Yepez, who pitched 8 1/3 strong innings, striking out ten. Two runs in the fifth gave Parma the lead, three in the eighth offered some insurance. Giuseppe Mazzanti homered for the Pirates. Enrique Gonzales took the loss.
