IBL Semis: Parma, Bologna with Comeback-Wins

Telemarket Rimini once again blew a lead in the semi-final round of the Italian Baseball League on Friday evening and lost 2-3 against Cariparma Parma. It was the fifth loss in the fifth game for the Pirates. Four of them were decided by a single run.

Rimini took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth on a RBI double by Mattia Campanini and a RBI groundout by Lorenzo Avagnina. But after Parma cut the deficit through a RBI single by Orlando Munoz in the sixth, they scored the two decisive runs in the seventh on a pair of sac flies by Stefano De Simoni and Marco Yepez.

Sandy Patrone (RIM) allowed six hits, a run and a walk in six innings. Justin Cicatello (PAR) surrendered four hits, two runs and three bb in 4 2/3 innings. Marco Grifantini (W) received the win, Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (L) the loss.

UGF Bologna also overcame a 0-2 deficit in their 3-2 win over T&A San Marino. They can complete the sweep over the Titans on Saturday evening. San Marino dropped back to 3-2 and third in the semi-final standings.

T&A took the lead on a RBI groundout by Max De Biase in the first and a RBI single by Carlos Duran in the third. But Joe Mazzuca’s RBI single in the sixth made it a one-run game until RBI doubles by Juan Angrisano and Mattia Reginato in the eighth completed the comeback.

Cody Cillo (BOL) allowed nine hits, two runs and three bb in 6 1/3 innings. Gregory Palanzo (SMA) gave up four hits, a run and four walks in also 6 1/3 frames. Yulman Ribeiro (W) picked up the win. Mattia Salsi (L) was charged with the loss.
