IBL Semis: Bologna, Parma win on Thursday

Posted on July 4, 2014 by philipp

The Italian Baseball League semi-final round robin continued on Thursday with two games. Unipol Bologna edged out T&A San Marino 1-0 in a meeting of 4-2 clubs. Claudio Liverziani hit a solo home run in the fifth to make the difference. Joey Williamson won the pitcher’s duel against Junior Guerra. Both gave up five hits and a walk in seven-plus innings. But Guerra’s lone mistake decided the outcome.

In the second matchup Parma defeated Rimini 6-1. Three runs in the second and three in the ninth helped the team of manager Orlando Munoz to their second win of the semi-finals. Alex Sambucci homered and drove in two for Parma. Jose Sanchez pitched seven strong innings for the win. Alexander Romero accounted for the only Pirates run with a solo shot in the third.
