CARIPARMA defeated BOLOGNA in the semi-final round opener in the Italian Baseball League. They fourth-ranked club after the regular season won thanks to a one-out walk off homerun by Laidel Chapelli in the bottom of the tenth. PARMA had tied the score in the eighth on a RBI triple by Jhonny Carvajal and a RBI double by Orlando Munoz. Joseph Mazzuca drove in two for FORTITUDO. Roberto Corradini (PAR) allowed three hits, three runs (2 ER) and five bb in 5 1/3 innings. Fabio Betto (BOL) conceded three hits, a run and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. Giuseppe Norrito gave away the lead in the eighth. Brian Scarcella picked up the win. Fabio Milano took the loss.
T&A San Marino – Telemarket Rimini 6-3

Defending champion SAN MARINO began the playoff phase with a 6-3 win over RIMINI. They built up a 6-0 lead thru six innings, before the PIRATES cut the deficit in a half with a three-run rally on a bases clearing double by Leo Serafin de Camargo in the seventh. Francesco Imperiali (3 runs) and Dean Rovinelli (3 RBI) hit homeruns for T&A. Luca Martignoni (SMA) went 4 2/3 scoreless innings to start the game. He allowed just two hits and two walks. William Lucena replaced him with two outs in the fifth and picked up the win. Sandy Patrone took the loss after conceding seven hits, five runs and a walk in five innings.
