In a game, which went back and forth, RIMINI had to score twice in the bottom of the ninth to become an 8-7 winner. They trailed 6-7 going into the last frame, but they didn’t hesitate to load the bases with no outs. They tied the contest, when Luigi Carrozza was hit by a pitch to bring Mario Chiarini over the plate. PARMA forced out Eddie Rios for the first out. A strange, decisive play followed. Next batter Phil LoCascio received the bunt sign for a squeeze play, missed the outside pitch of Mihai Burlea, but Ivanon Coffie scored anyway from third, as catcher Riccardo Bertagnon couldn’t catch the ball.

Laidel Chapelli homered for CARIPARMA. Stefano De Simoni drove in two. Chiarini went three-for-four with three runs scored for TELEMARKET. Carrozza collected four RBI total. Rafael Garcia (RIM) allowed seven hits, five runs (3 ER) and three bb in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out seven. Ricky Palma (PAR) issued seven hits, five runs and four walks in 6 2/3 innings. Gustavo Martinez picked up the win, Brian Scarcella took the loss.

After coming back trailing by nine runs on Wednesday, SAN MARINO also won the second match of the series against BOLOGNA, this time by a final score of 6-2. Horacio Estrada gave up just two unearned runs on three hits and five bb in 5 2/3 innings, striking out five. Luis Ramirez closed it out and got eight of the last ten outs through a strikeout. Jesus Matos surrendered ten hits, six runs (5 ER) and a walk in five innings. He struck out seven. Martin Vasquez and Max De Biase each scored twice. David Sheldon drove in two.
