Hungarian Baseball and Softball Federation announces Coaching Staff for 2011 Season

2011 Qualifier European Championship, Other European Countries Comments Off on Hungarian Baseball and Softball Federation announces Coaching Staff for 2011 Season

Press Release Hungarian Baseball and Softball Federation

The Hungarian Baseball and Softball Federation (MOBSSz) is announcing their 2011 National Team Coaching staff for the Senior National Team.

Budapest – Head Coach Ingo Gottwald and Assistant Coach Andras Radacsi have already been with the team since their last European qualifier tournament in Slovakia in 2008 and are continuing their work with the national team.

Although Coach Gottwald has relocated from Budapest to Madrid (Spain) in 2010, the Hungarian federation and Gottwald agreed to continue with the coaching duo of Gottwald-Radacsi due to their successful cooperation over the past three years.  This consistency will allow the Senior National Team to continue on their development path.

In addition to that the Federation Board decided to extend the coaching staff to four coaches in preparation for the upcoming European Championship Qualifiers. New members of the coaching staff will be American Justin Prinstein and American Anthony Bennett. Both of them are well known in European baseball and have a great knowledge of the game as players as well as coaches.

Coach Prinstein will take over the role of Pitching Coach and Assistant Coach for the national team. Prinstein is currently negotiating his player contract in one of the top European Leagues and he will join the Hungarian National Team for the regular workouts and camps in Hungary during the season. His main task will be to work with our young bullpen and prepare them for the upcoming competition in Barcelona. Coach Prinstein has shown great interest in joining the Hungarian National Team program beyond 2011. His plan is to be based in Europe as a coach and scout for the next years therefore both sides are open to negotiate a long term work relationship later on.

Coach Bennett will reside in Hungary from March on as he will take over the Head Coach position of reigning national champions Szentendre Sleepwalkers, where he will be working with many current members of the senior and junior national team. Coach Bennett will work for the Senior National Team and the Junior National Team too. With his broad coaching experience in every element of the game, Coach Bennett will be a great support for the senior team during their work out sessions and – as hitting coach – will have his main focus on the offensive part of the game.

The Hungarian Team will be participating in the Barcelona group of the EC Qualifier from 25th-30th of July 2011, where they will be facing the national teams of Ireland, Switzerland, Finland and hosts Spain.
