The German Baseball-Bundesliga clubs HSV Stealers and Untouchables Paderborn changed their foreign starting pitchers prior to this past weekend’s game days.
Hamburg brought in Travis Jones to replace the injured Kyle O’Campo. Jones had a pinch-hit double in game one against the Solingen Alligators and surrendered seven hits, six runs and two walks in 2 1/3 frames in game two. The 24-year-old played minor league ball for the Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Dodgers between 2008 and 2012. He got converted from catcher to pitcher in his last season.
Paderborn has replaced Taylor Swift with Mathew Hewitt. He started against the Bonn Capitals and gave up six hits, six runs (5 ER) and a base on balls in five innings. An official confirmation of the new acquisition is still outstanding. Swift was 3-2 with an ERA of 2.87 in seven games for the Untouchables. He allowed 24 hits, 12 runs and 25 walks in 37 2/3 innings, striking out 41.
