The Vaessen Pioniers welcomed the newly crowned European Champions Cup winner L&D Amsterdam with a 5-1 defeat back in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Four runs in the first got things going. Quintin De Cuba highlighted the frame with a two-run double. He also scored two runs in the game. Lars Huijer pitched eight strong innings, allowing four hits, a run and three walks. Dennis Burgersdijk got charged with the loss, surrendering eight hits, four runs (3 ER) and four base on balls in six frames.
Meanwhile Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam beat the De Glaskoning Twins 3-1. Diegomar Markwell kept the Twins to four hits, a run and two walks in 7 1/3 innings. Dwayne Kemp scored two of the three Rotterdam runs. Brenda Schoemaker struck out eight in six innings, taking the loss.
DSS beat Pickles UVV 7-6 surviving a three-run rally by UVV in the ninth. With a runner on third Jordan Illis struck out to end the game. Kinheim shut out HCAW 6-0 in seven innings. The game had a sun delay from more than an hour. Tom Stuifbergen and Nick Veltkamp kept HCAW to two hits and four walks in seven scoreless frames. Dudley Leonora homered and drove in three.
