Hoofdklasse going to us IBAF Tiebreaker Rule in 2011

Posted on March 31, 2011 by philipp

Already in play during international tournaments since the 2008 Olympics and in various leagues around the world including the Spanish Division de Honor and the Italian Baseball League, the Dutch Hoofdklasse is going to us the IBAF Tiebreaker Rule in 2011 as well. Starting with the tenth inning runners will be placed on first and second and no outs, trying to speed up the game. Check out IBAF.org for a more detailed explanation of the rule.

Additionally the Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) has removed the rule that games in the Netherlands will end after twelve innings, even if the game is tied. However tied games are still possible since the curfew rule is still in effect. During night games no new inning will be started after 10.50pm. The IBAF Tiebreaker Rule will not be used during the Holland Series and during promotion/relegation series.
