Defending champion Corendon Kinheim and playoff finalist Konica Minolta Pioniers continued and completed a game on Wednesday, which started on May 18. Because of three incidents at second base, causing hospitalization of Pioniers shortstop Mervin Gario and a bench clearing brawl, umpires decided to call the game at the end of the sixth inning four months ago. Seven players were suspended for ten regular games: four from visiting Kinheim and three from hosting Pioniers.
Based on umpires reports, the federation authorities ruled the game lost 0-2 by the Pioniers, but since the independent appeal committee overruled all earlier decisions two weeks ago, the same game was continued on Wednesday at the 5-5 score at the begin of the seventh inning.
Pioniers pitcher Robin van Doornspeek silenced three Kinheim attacks, faced only ten Kinheim batters including Double A Mariner Gregory Halman, striking out six and acquired the pitcher’s win thanks to an RBI triple by Tjerk Hogervorst and a two-run single by De Flanegin in the seventh inning for a final score of 8-5.
Kinheim : 0 – 0 – 0 – 1 – 1 – 3 – four months – 0 – 0 – 0 = 5
Pioniers : 1 – 0 – 0 – 4 – 0 – 0 – four months – 3 – 0 – X = 8
