Box score

DOOR Neptunus rallied for four runs in the top of the eighth to win game two of the Holland Series 5-3 against L&D Amsterdam Pirates, tying the best-of-seven series at 1-1. After 950 in attendance on Saturday in Rotterdam, the same number showed up one day later in Ookmeer. Game three is scheduled for Thursday evening.

The Pirates used their momentum of their game-one victory to take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second thanks to a RBI single by Kenny Berkenbosch. Three frames later they added another run on a RBI single by Nick Urbanus. After Danny Rombley put Neptunus on the board with a solo homerun in the sixth, L&D Amsterdam regained its two-run advantage thanks to an error by center fielder Shaldimar Daantji in the seventh.

But it was not enough to take a 2-0 lead in the Holland Series. The club from Rotterdam finally showed off their offensive potential in the eighth. They loaded the bases with no outs and a RBI single by Jeffrey Arends and a bases loaded walk by Mourik Huijser tied the game. With two outs Jeroen Sluijter came through and drove in two with a ground-rule double down the left field line, sealing the 5-3 win.

Leon Boyd (NEP) only lasted 4 2/3 innings on the mound, allowing five hits, two runs and three walks, while striking out five. Dushan Ruzic (W) replaced him in the fifth and issued just one hit, an unearned run and a bb in 4 1/3 innings of relief. Rob Cordemans (AMS) dominated with nine strikeouts in six frames, giving up six hits, a run and two walks. Ben Grover (L) took the loss, being responsible for all four Neptunus runs in the eighth.
