On Thursday evening Curacao Neptunus struck first and took a 2-0 lead in the fourth through a two-run single by Shaldimar Daantji. Two frames later Dwayne Kemp went deep to make it a three-run game. The Pirates then woke up and cut the deficit to a run with a RBI single by Kenny Berkenbosch in the sixth and a sac fly by Nick Urbanus in the seventh. But they weren’t able to tie the game.
Diegomar Markwell pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two runs and five walks to pick up the win. Rob Cordemans went the distance for L&D Amsterdam, taking the loss. He struck out ten in nine innings of work, conceding four hits, three runs (2 ER) and a base on balls.
