Holland Series: Curacao Neptunus seals Championship with Shutout

Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam has defended its title in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Its their sixth consecutive championship in Netherlands baseball and their 19th overall. On Sunday they shut out L&D Amsterdam 3-0 in game six of the best-of-seven Holland Series, which they won 4-2 erasing a 0-2 deficit in the process.

Elton Koeiman and Kevin Kelly kept the Pirates to five hits and a walk in nine scoreless innings. Kyle Ward matched Rotterdam’s pitching until the eighth, when a dropped fly ball in right field cleared the bases and allowed Stijn van der Meer, Benjamin Dille and Shaldimar Daantji to cross the plate.
