Holland Series 2019: L&D Amsterdam narrows gap further with nailbiter

A solo home run by Gilmer Lampe in the top of the eighth broke a 1-1 tie and plated the game-winner for L&D Amsterdam in a 2-1 victory over Curacao Neptunus on Thursday evening. With the win the Pirates narrowed the gap in the best-of-seven Holland Series 2019 to 2-3. Game six will be played in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Stijn van der Meer had tied the game for Rotterdam in the seventh inning. Max Clarijs had scored in the second to put Amsterdam in front. Kevin Heijstek issued just an unearned run on four hits and a walk in seven innings. Mike Groen and Tom Stuifbergen closed it out. Orlando Yntema struck out eight in eight innings, but also got charged for six hits, two runs and two walks in the loss.
