A judge of the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS) has scheduled the hearing in the case of Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez for Friday, March 26. He will hear the arguments of Marquez-Ramirez, Telemarket Rimini and Danesi Nettuno. With that, a decision is expected to be made before the start of the season on April 1st.
Nettuno wanted to sign Marquez-Ramirez in April of 2009, but couldn’t reach an agreement with his former club Solingen Alligators. In January of this year, Rimini announced that they have signed the member of the German national team. However Nettuno says, they still have a contract with the southpaw for the 2010 season.
As consequence over the dispute, FIBS Secretary General Marcello Standoli has suspended Marquez-Ramirez until a ruling will be made. Meanwhile the starting pitcher is in training camp with the Pirates and pitched in an exhibition match against T&A San Marino last weekend. He threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits, while striking out two.
