Halcones de Vigo strengthens Roster for upcoming Season

Posted on February 22, 2010 by philipp

The Spanish Division de Honor club Halcones de Vigo already announced a few days ago that they have signed three new players and extended the contract with another.

They are going to bring back 34-year-old right-handed pitcher Rafael Gomera De La Rosa, who pitched for the team in 2008, helping them to earn the promotion into the elite league in Spain. Vigo hopes that he will form a productive duo at the top of the pitching staff with 22-year-old Roman Carrasco. After going 1-4 with an ERA of 3.86 in eleven appearances (seven starts) last season, he stays for another year.

Halcones also brings in two players from El Llano. 30-year-old catcher Jose Morales batted .317 (OBP .404/SLG .472) with two homeruns, four triples, five doubles, 15 runs scored and 26 RBI in 34 games last season for the Gijon-based club. 37-year-old outfielder Marcos Trillo had a similar productive year with a batting average of .305 (OBP .391/SLG .344), one triple, three doubles, 22 runs and 19 RBI in 35 games.

The new season in the Division de Honor is scheduled to start on Saturday. Halcones de Vigo has a tough task on its hands, hosting the FC Barcelona on opening weekend.
