Taiwan picked up its first win at the Haarlemse Honkbalweek 2010, when they beat Japan on Tuesday afternoon. A RBI triple by Wei Chih Chen and the RBI single by Chih Pei Huang two batters later put them ahead. An insurance run in the eighth sealed the win. Yu Ching Lin (W) allowed just five hits, a run and two walks in nine innings for the win. Naoki Shirahama (L) gave up four hits, two runs and three bb in 5 2/3 innings.

In the most lopsided victory by a Dutch team over Cuba in an official game the reigning European champion won 10-0 in seven innings on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 at the Haarlemse Honkbalweek. The Netherlands scored in each of the first four frames en route to a ten-run rule shortened blowout. It also was the biggest defeat ever for a Cuban team during the Honkbalweek.
Besides Raily Legito every member of the starting lineup scored at least once. Man of the match Eugene Kingsale and Danny Rombley crossed the plate twice. Bas de Jong, Bryan Engelhardt and Shaldimar Daantji combined for six RBI.
On the mound starting pitcher Leon Boyd (W, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 SO) and relievers Michiel van Kampen and Arshwin Asjes followed suite and conceded just five hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings. Ciro Licea (L) surrendered five hits, six runs and a bb in 1 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Notes: Due to a shower following the Japan-Taiwan game in the afternoon the clash between the Netherlands and Cuba was delayed until 8pm CET…. The Pim Mulier Stadion in Haarlem reported a packed house with 4,500 people in attendance….. In 2004 Cuba had lost 1-10 against Taiwan in Haarlem….. The Dutch team already had won an exhibition game 3-2 against Cuba last Thursday in Rotterdam.
