The Haar Disciples announced on Monday that they have signed 31-year-old Joey Dyche. The Californian comes after recommendation of Disciples slugger Josh Petersen who played with him at a tournament in Florida recently. According to general manager Michael Stephan he will serve as new leadoff hitter and is able to play at short or in the outfield, but also can be used as pitcher.
Dyche played 177 games in the Minors for the San Francisco Giants organization between 2005 and 2007. He batted .254/.322/.334 between Rookie ball and High-A. Meanwhile Haar also revealed officially that head coach Keith Maxwell, starting pitcher Brian Fields, infielder Dadynoel Lorenzo, Tony Younis and Bruno Aurnhammer won’t be playing or coaching for the Disciples next year.
