Gulf widens in National League South

The LONDON METS (8-0) and RICHMOND FLAMES (6-2) continued to separate from the CROYDON PIRATES (1-7) and the BRACKNELL BLAZERS (1-7), as LONDON swept CROYDON (with scorelines of 11-1 and 4-3) and RICHMOND took two off BRACKNELL (winning 13-1 and 14-5). Brian Essery and Troy Kantor both picked up their fourth win of the season for the METS, while Michael Osborn and Ryan Bird were the winning pitchers for the FLAMES.

Offensively, the day belonged to RICHMOND’s Cody Cain, who went 6-for-6 across the two games, with two doubles and a home run. Grant Del Zoppo also homered for RICHMOND, while CROYDON’s Maikel Azcuy hit the only home run in the other National League South match-up.

Up in the north, the MANCHESTER EAGLES and MENWITH HILL PATRIOTS (top and bottom, respectively) split a doubleheader to keep the gap between them at two games. The EAGLES took the first game 6-1, but the PATRIOTS fought back to take the second game 9-4.  The LIVERPOOL TROJANS are sandwiched between the EAGLES and the PATRIOTS, having not yet got their season underway.

This Sunday, the National League South has another rest day, but all three National League North teams should be in action.
