Grosseto Baseball is bringing in another former Major Leaguer. Michael Anthony Smith, who played 15 games in the big leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins in 2002 and 2006, is coming to Tuscany. The 34-year-old right-hander played for the Brockton Rox in the Canadian-American Association, the same independent league club where new Grosseto catcher Chris Grossman played. Smith also is going to serve as pitching coach on the staff of Mike Hartley. This probably means that Javier Galvez is going to work with the IBL2 pitchers.
