Germany’s Paul Wittmann and his West Texas A&M Buffaloes will begin NCAA Division 2 postseason play on Thursday, May 19, when they take on the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers in Grand Junction, CO.
The Buffaloes are making their eighth-straight appearance in the postseason, with the first round consisting of a three-team, double-elimination regional tournament. Host Colorado Mesa University, the highest seeded team in the regional, rounds out the pool of three teams.
Wittmann put together a .345/.479/.469 slash line in 45 games in his first season with the Buffaloes after competing in the German Bundesliga in 2021 with the Guggenberger Legionäre Regensburg. He hit safely in four of his last five games to finish the season, with his lone home run hit on May 13 against the same St. Edward’s team the Buffaloes will face on Thursday in Grand Junction.
The winner of the Grand Junction regional advances to the best-of-three Super Regional (May 27-29), with the victor advancing to the Division II College World Series in Cary, NC (Jun 4-11).
