Germany’s Walther Signs with Milwaukee Brewers

Posted on September 3, 2022September 4, 2022 by MrBB

Germany’s Yannic Walther has signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the third German to sign with an MLB organization this year, the German Baseball Academy (DBA) has announced.

The 18-year-old Walther, who catches and plays the infield, made his Bundesliga debut in 2019 with the Heidenheim Heideköpfe, where he slashed .350/.441/.490 in 120 regular season at-bats this past season, with one homer and 11 doubles.

Walther has also represented Germany at every youth level, winning European championships in 2016 (U12) and 2017 (U15), and will represent Germany at the U23 World Championship in Taiwan in October before traveling to the Brewers’ academy in the Dominican Republic.

He joins Tim Fischer (Los Angeles Dodgers) and former Heidenheim teammate Lou Helmig (Philadelphia Phillies) to become the third German talent to join an MLB organization this year.
