The Canadian team (2-2) fulfilled their job to stay in the hunt for a quarterfinals berth. They shut out Germany 10-0 in eight innings on Saturday afternoon. It is the fourth loss for the European team.
The maple leafs started fast and scored two runs on a homerun by Jeremy WARE (3-4) in the first. After three scoreless frames, they placed eight more runs on the board in the last four innings. Matt ROGELSTAD had three hits in five at-bats with a triple and a double. He had three RBI.
Jamie RICHMOND (W 1-0) allowed only four hits in seven strong innings. He struck out four. Chris LEROUX pitched a perfect eighth to finsih the game.
Martin ALMSTETTER (L 0-1) started for Germany. He gave up nine hits, six runs and four walks in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three. Mirko HEID relieved him.
