The national teams of Germany and Spain are going to play a six-game exhibition series in Barcelona, Spain next week to round up the 2017 baseball season. Games will be played in Montjuic, Sant Boi and Viladecans from Sunday, October 28 to Saturday, November 4.
Spain is led by manager Paco Figueroa and selected 25 players for the series including pro players Ramon Rosso, Carlos Sierra and Angel Sarduy. Familiar to German baseball on the roster are Eduardo Miliani, who played for the Mannheim Tornados in 2016, and Daniel Sanchez of the Solingen Alligators. Figueroa gets supported on the coaching staff by Nestor Perez, Renny Duarte, Manu Olivera, Felix Cano and Candelario Diaz.
Manager Martin Helmig and Germany invited 23 players to the training camp in Spain. Missing are injured Jan-Niclas Stöcklin and Markus Solbach, who is on the coaching staff, as well as all their professional players. Donald Lutz, who spent the summer coaching in Asia and who returns to the Australian Baseball League later this year, rejoins his German national teammates for the first time since the 2016 WBC Qualifier in Mexicali. Besides Helmig and Solbach also Jendrick Speer, Philipp Howard and Ruggero Bagialemani will be on the coaching staff.
