Germany has announced the roster for the U12 European Championship in Trebic, Czech Republic (July 4 to 9, 2016). It’s the first ever participation of a German team at the tournament, which has been won seven times by the Czech Republic and three times by Russia.
16 players from 13 different clubs were selected by manager Georg Bull and his German Baseball Academy (DBA, Deutsche Baseballakademie) coaching staff. Except for one 2005 player all are born in 2004. Since the first tryout in Deggendorf in September 2015 several training camps were held by the DBA. In June Germany beat Austria in all three games of an exhibition series in Baldham near Munich.
Germany is traveling to Trebic this coming week and will finish off the preparations with a warm-up game against the Czech Republic. Slotted into pool B Germany faces Russia, France, Lithuania, Romania and the Ukraine during the preliminary phase.
